Market times & dates
The Pako Farmers Market operates on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month at Ashby Primary School, Geelong West.
Gates open to shoppers at 8am and all sales finish at 1pm.
Our dates for the next few markets in 2018 are: February 10, February 24, March 10, March 24, April 14, April 28.
The market is located close to plenty of transport options.
We are very bike friendly and just a stone's throw from Pakington Street.
If you're catching a train, Geelong's main station (Railway Terrace) is a nice 10 minute walk away.
Buses run along Pakington Street too, with the Collins St. stop a block away.
If you're driving, Pakington Street has timed free parking, and there's more parking right across the road from Ashby PS in the Waratah Street carpark (also free).
Pako Farmers Market is wheelchair accessible with stalls located on hard surfaces so you won't get bogged.
Public toilets are located acros Waratah Street at the western end of the carpark. School toilets are not open on market days.
At this time, we don't have an on-site ATM facility, however there are several ATMs along Pakington Street to the south of the market (Commonwealth, NAB, Westpac and others), with the closest one being in the shopping complex over Waratah Street.
Drinking water is available from those wonderful bubble taps in the school grounds.
The market is not under cover so if the weather looks dodgy, pack your raincoat!
We're developing our members program to encourage more people to support our regional food economy by making the market a really special place to shop.
For now, if you support us by buying one of our must-have calico Pako Farmers Market bags at the market, we'll add you to our members list. You'll receive special notices and news of new stallholders via email.
You'll also get the warm and slightly superior feeling that comes from knowing you're part of the community that's making a difference to the health and economy of our region.
The Pako Farmers Market is a community market, managed by the Barwon Fair Food Network, a non-profit incorporated association. The market site has been generously provided by Ashby Primary School.
We ask for a gold coin donation to visit the Pako Farmers Market. The money from your donations goes to Ashby Primary School's food garden program and to other food-farming projects of the Barwon Fair Food Network.
We are in the process of applying for accreditation with the Victorian Farmers Markets Association. Every stallholder at our market is the actual farmer, grower or maker of the food you're buying, or is a direct employee. Once we confirm our acceditation (fingers crossed!) we will join the ranks of the other VFMA-accredited markets in our region - the South Geelong Farmers Market and the Golden Plains Farmers Market. We encourage you to shop at those markets as well!
